Scholarships based on Merit and Need 2018 - 2019

The Hellenic-American Educational Foundation (HAEF) this year awarded eighteen merit scholarships to students who excelled on the 1st year Junior High (gr 7) and High School (gr 10) entrance examinations, who demonstrated high academic performance in previous years and who are in need of financial assistance.  The scholarships are provided by the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation, the U.S. Board of Trustees and individual donors.

The selection was made by a Committee comprised of School Directors, members of HAEF’s Board of Directors and Board of Trustees and the College President.  Final decisions were made by the Committee members after having reviewed the candidates’ academic qualifications and their families’ financial needs.  This year, the process included a visit by a panel of educators and psychologists to the candidates’ homes.

During Commencement which was held on July 11, 2018, President Richard Jackson announced the results of the selection process.

Of the eighteen scholarships that were awarded, fourteen go to Junior High School 7th graders and four to High School 10th graders.  Specifically:

  • seven of the scholarships awarded to JHS 7th graders cover 100% tuition
  • the other seven scholarships awarded to JHS 7th graders, cover either 75% or 50% tuition
  • the four scholarships awarded to HS 10th graders cover 100% tuition.

Furthermore, of the eighteen scholarships, fifteen were granted to students coming from public schools.

The College Community congratulates these students and wishes them every success in their studies at our School.
