15th Special Olympics Basketball Week 2018

 

On Wednesday, November 28, 2018, within the framework of the 15th Special Olympics European Basketball Week, Special Olympics Hellas organized Unified 3x3 and Double 5x5, mixed teams, basketball matches. The games were held in the Aggelikouseio Indoor Gymnasium and Chandreio Athletic Center.

 

 

  

Special Olympics athletes as well as players from PAO BC Academy, Korydallos 5th General High School, Ano Liosia 1st Junior High School, N. Iraklion E.E.E.E.K. High School and the Varsity Junior High and High School teams of Athens College – Psychico College all took part. This educational program was approved by the Ministry of Education under the title “Play Unified – Learn Unified.”

 

 

Ambassador and President of Special Olympics Hellas, Mr. Dionysios Kodellas, honored the event with his presence as did Special Olympics Europe-Eurasia Youth Engagement Manager, Mr. Tobias Staebler, Regional Sports Advisor, Mr. Spyros Pantzas, Director of Special Olympics Hellas, Ms. Artemis Vasilikopoulou, General Manager of PAO B.C. Academy, Mr. Themis Karvountzis, Operations Manager of PAO B.C. Academy, Mr. Dimitris Asimakopoulos, KAE Panathinakos player, Mr. Giorgos Kalaitzakis, Special Olympics Hellas Secretary General, Ms. Mariza Oikonomou, and Co-Director of Athens College and Coordinator of the HAEF School Units, Mr. Apostolos Athanasopoulos.

 

 

 

The contribution and organizational support given by all members of the “A” Association was decisive in the success of the event.

th and 8th grade Junior High School students were in attendance.
