History
The Athens College / Psychico College Library is the oldest
school library in Greece.
Its first books were bought in 1930 but it was established
as a library in the beginning of the 1950's. Since 1964 it
has been housed in its own building, of about 1000 square
meters, on the Athens College campus in Psychiko.
The library contains about 65,000 volumes and a large selection
of magazines, records, compact discs, DVDs, video cassettes,
CD-ROMs, and other resources.
The library lends to the students and the personnel of Athens
College according to its internal regulations. It is open
to the general public as a reading library. All who use the
library have the possibility to photocopy the printed material.
The reading room contains about 200 places (chairs, desks)
for studying.
The library has two seminar rooms equipped with special machines
for projecting and playing audiovisual materials.
The library has eleven employees, eight of whom are specialized
librarians.
