in Libraries - Information - Animation
- Skills: A program for creating digital
libraries for children in the Internet with the
objective of developing new services in public and
school libraries. Libraries and universities from
England, Germany, Greece, Spain, Portugal, and Finland
worked on this project.

Virtual
and Electronic Resources for Information
skills and Training for Young people
The objective of the program is the creation of a new
electronic service on the Internet, to aid and educate
young people aged 13-19 in effective information research
in libraries and electronic networks. Libraries and
universities from England, Germany, Greece, Portugal,
and Finland are participating in this project.

UNIVERSE, 1998
 The
UNIVERSE project aims to deliver and utilise a logical
union catalogue, providing a single contact point for
specific subject domains, to deliver a number of advanced
library services for both the end-user and the librarian.
Services will include multimedia document delivery,
inter-library loans and collaborative cataloguing/record
supply, integrated to the transparent, very large scale
multi-database search and retrieve process.

HELEN,
1993-1995, (Athens College Library)
Automatic transliteration program from the Greek to
the Latin alphabet. The objective is to offer a means
of smooth on-line transferring of bibliographical records
and data.
The Athens College Library worked (as an associated
partner) in conjunction with the University of Bradford,
UK, Kings College London, UK, the University of Crete,
and the Center for Modern Greek Research of the National
Research Foundation.

The objective of the program was the development of creative
expression, by inducing children aged 9-12 to elaborate
on traditional fairytales. Libraries in England, Germany,
Greece, Portugal, and Finland collaborated on the program.

Information
Society Technologies

WIN - Wireless Internet Network, 2002-2003
 WIN
project will demonstrate a cellular wireless communication
platform, which will cover the networking needs of a
medium size area cell and provide high bit rate access
to Internet, user-defined services and e-commerce services.
The project will deploy the wireless network, survey
the market and select subscribers groups, develop user-defined
and e-commerce applications, as required, and measure
post-deployment network performance and subscriber acceptability
and satisfaction.

INTERNATIONAL
PROGRAMS
International Education and Resource Network
Children's
folk games (Libraries and Schools of HAEF)
Collection and recording of traditional games, songs, and
customs by children. The goal is to establish communication
and understanding amongst children. The international program
has children from the following countries as participants:
Argentina, Greece, US, Spain, Italy, Kazakhstan, Croatia,
Latvia, Lithuania, Uganda, Romania, and Russia.
