Faculty Association

The Faculty Association of the Psychico College Elementary School meets before the beginning and after the end of the school year, and on any Wednesday specified in the monthly schedule.
In these meetings, the Faculty Association:

  • Discusses and advises on pedagogical issues, teaching materials and the day to day operation of the School, in accordance with the provisions of the Ministry of Education and as reflects school requirements.
  • Participates in training seminars.
  • Forms committees to improve the pedagogical efficiency of the School and elects representatives of the Association in various bodies.
  • Attends to pedagogical issues or issues affecting student observation and evaluation.

Members of the School’s Counseling Office participate in these meetings as advisors, either on their own initiative or by invitation of the Association.


Grading Council

On a weekly basis, or on special occasions, the teacher-advisors for each grade hold meetings chaired by the Vice Principal and discuss:

  • The content, progress and teaching methods for each course of study
  • The production, correction and grading of common tests
  • Student performance evaluation
  • Student progress and behavioral assessment, and relationships among students
  • Event scheduling and planning
  • Production and publication of supplementary teaching material and other topics related to class operation

Special Subject Departments

English, Physical Education and Aesthetic Education are taught by special subject instructors. Course coordinators are as follows:

W. Helm, Interschool coordinator of English
G. Gryparis, Interschool Coordinator of Physical Education
D. Minakakis, Interschool Coordinator of Music Department

Teachers of all Special Subject Departments (English, French, German, Physical Education, Aesthetic Education) meet on a weekly basis or on special occasions, to discuss:

  • Course content, progress and teaching methods
  • Exam production, correction and grading
  • Student, course and department performance evaluation
  • Allocation or reallocation of students to class sections
  • Preparation and publication of supplementary teaching material, and other topics related to class operation

Collaborative Groups for Individual Courses

At the beginning of each school year, Teacher-Advisors are assigned to organize, coordinate and represent their classes for one of the courses (Greek, Math, History, Natural Sciences and Cultural Events). The Course Coordinators communicate and meet regularly with the teacher-advisors of other grades. In this way, they ensure smooth curriculum transition between grades and take steps towards the completion of the curriculum.


Faculty Groups

All Faculty members hold meetings by class section, whenever required, to discuss:

  • Class progress and behavior
  • Student progress and behavior; problems and relationships among students

Committees

The Faculty Association or School Administration designates committees for the study and discussion of aspects of the supervision and promotion of the operations required in order to achieve the school’s objectives. For example, there are committees tasked with processing and modifying course curriculum maps, for supervising and producing school publications or supplementary teaching material, and for supervising the Student Community and other student activities.


Teacher Training

Throughout the school year, the Elementary School Faculty takes advantage of the opportunities provided by HAEF’s continuing education program.  Faculty members participate in the educational seminars organized by the school and the educational events organized by other entities in Greece or abroad.
