Middle School Administration
The Principal, Vice Principal and Assistant Principal are the school administration team. This team constitutes the school’s administrative body and is responsible for day to day operation and for achieving its pedagogical objectives in collaboration with the Faculty Association.

The Faculty Association
The Faculty Association comprises all Faculty members, who are employed under any type of contract.
The Faculty Association
- makes decisions about grading, advancement, graduation, reassessment or rejection of students at the end of the school year, based on all relevant data and scores maintained in school records in accordance with the relevant provisions in force.
- imposes student penalties in accordance with provisions in force at the school. At the end of the year, it evaluates student conduct and student attendance, based on verifiable and quantifiable data.
- makes decisions, either collectively as a body or through its committees, about the excursions, hikes, field trips and student events to take place during the school year.
Committees
Since the school year 2002/3, three Faculty committees have been formed in the Psychico College to ensure the school’s operational efficiency. The responsibilities of these committees are of great importance, since they are tasked, each time, to analyze all the requirements and submit a well-documented proposal to the School Administration or the Faculty Association.
The following Committees are in place for the current school year:
Academic Committee
This Committee consists of the Supervisors from all Academic Departments (Greek, Math, Natural Sciences, Humanities, English) the school’s Vice Principals and the Principal, who also presides at the Committee. Its mandate is to monitor the implementation of the curriculum, offer guidance to colleagues, new and old, plan and implement innovative actions, apply the interdisciplinary teaching approach.
Committee for the Evaluation of Educational Procedures
Comprising the teachers of the Middle School Faculty Association, the Vice Principals and the Principal, the committee monitors and certifies all educational procedures, in and out of the classroom, by applying quantitative and qualitative standards.
Disciplinary Committee
The Committee is responsible for monitoring the School’s overall disciplinary outlook with an eye to prevention; it is also tasked with maintaining regular contact with instructors and Teacher-Advisors in order to ensure a shared, integrated policy on disciplinary matters and school life regulations.
Extracurricular Activity Committee
The committee responsible for extracurricular activity consists of five members, while efforts are made for representatives from all Academic Departments to be included. It is presided by one of the two Vice Principals. Its responsibilities include coordinating extracurricular activities, providing help to any instructor who is assigned to plan an event, developing the field trip plan, and planning and implementing activities outside of the curriculum.
Section Teacher-Advisor
A Teacher-Advisor deals with the academic, pedagogical and disciplinary problems of the students in each section.
His/her main responsibilities are to:
1. Monitor the academic, pedagogical and disciplinary performance of students as a group and individually. He/she serves as a liaison, facilitating communication among students, teachers and parents.
2. Keep up to date with the School Administration and Faculty regarding the academic level, disciplinary and other individual problems of the students in his section. He/she also maintains his personal contact with each student and his parents.
3. Inform students about the School’s policies, distinctive and particular features, administrative infrastructure (e.g. the Counseling Office) and discuss their responsibilities, duties and rights.
4. Ensure that a spirit of collaboration, cohesion and good communication prevails among students and create an environment conducive to student participation in extracurricular activities. He/she advises students on activities related to their general education and encourages their participation in Middle School activities held by the Student Community. To this effect, he collaborates with the five-member Class Board.
5. Class counseling work takes place during Social Life sessions. Students meet with their Teacher-Advisor in the classroom and discuss any issues related to the class, mainly brought up by the class President.
Class/Section Committee
The Class Committee consists of all teachers of a particular class and the Vice Principals.
- The Class Committee meets upon the Principal’s request whenever an issue arises related to the functioning of a grade or a section. The Class Committee may meet upon written request of at least three Faculty members or the Teacher-Advisor.
- The Principal may participate, and therefore preside, at the meetings; the Class President may also be attend.
- The Class Board may present proposals to the School Administration and the Faculty Association, which is responsible for making the final decisions.
- When a Class Committee meets upon the Principal's request in order to decide on a student disciplinary case, the Class President must be present. In this case, the Committee may impose a suspension up to five days and refer the student to the Faculty Association Assembly.
Teacher Training
The School’s teacher training program seeks to keep Faculty members up to date on aspects of their respective fields of expertise as well as on general teaching, education, psychology and counseling topics. Every year, a teacher training program is organized at the school, in which the participation of all teachers is strongly encouraged. |
