Prizes and Awards
Valedictorian and Salutatorian
The Administration and the Faculty of Psychico College bestow the
title of Valedictorian upon the graduating student who has not only excelled
academically , but who displays ethos, who has participated in a
diverse array of College activities, and whose personality
development is multi-faceted. The
title of Salutatorian is conferred upon the student who meets the same
qualifications and ranks second.
Howland Oratory Prize
(established in 1933)
Donated by Stefanos Delta in memory of Charles P. Howland, the first
Chairman of the College’s US Board of Trustees, the prize is awarded
every year to the graduating student who places first in the
composition and presentation of the most original public speech in
Greek.
Delta Oratory Prize
(established in 1933)
Donated by College Faculty members in memory of Stefanos Delta, the
prize is awarded to the graduating student who places first in the
composition and presentation of the best public speech in English.
The procedures for the selection of the Delta
competition winner are similar to those of the Howland competition.
March 25th
Celebratory Speech Prize
This prize is awarded to the Second Year High School student who
places first in the composition of a celebratory speech to be
presented at the March 25th Independence Day celebration.
The awardee earns the title “March 25th Prize
Winner”.
Three Hierarchs Prize
This prize is awarded to the
First Year High School
student who places first in the composition of a speech to be
presented on Three Hierarchs Day.
Athletic Award
The College confers this award upon a graduating student from either
the High School or the International Baccalaureate Program who
distinguishes him/herself for his/her athletic performance combined
with a spirit of generosity, team work, and positive initiative.
Alexander Petrellis Perry
Prize
Established in 1979, this prize is awarded each year to a graduating
student from either the High School or the International
Baccalaureate Programme who demonstrates outstanding academic
performance and character and is in need of financial aid to
continue with his/her studies abroad.
This scholarship is sponsored by a fund donated by Alexander
Perry to the College and to Greek youth.
Homer Davis Prize
Established by the College Alumni Association, this prize is awarded
to the graduating student who has demonstrated through his/her
character and conduct that he/she has adopted the spirit of service
to the broader community espoused by the College and has, therefore,
distinguished himself/herself for awareness of civic responsibility towards
society.
Parents’ Prize
Established further to a recommendation by the Parents’ Association
in 2002, this prize is awarded to a graduate from the previous
school year who was admitted with distinction to a Greek or to a
foreign university and who during his/her High School years excelled
academically and displayed overall exemplary behavior.
Graduation with Distinction
Graduation with Distinction is awarded to students who in the last
three years of their studies achieved a grade point average (GPA)
of:
At least
18.5 (Distinction with honors “cum Laude”)
At least 19 (Distinction with high honors “magna cum laude”)
The highest grade (Distinction with highest honors “summa cum
laude”)
