Announcement: New Executive Posts and Duties

The College welcomes the executives below who have assumed new managerial positions and duties at the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation, with the aim of optimizing the School’s organization and development and to promote its educational undertaking. 


Mr. Apostolos Athanasopoulos who for years was the Director of Psychico College High School, has taken on the unified role of Co-Director of Athens College and Coordinator of the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation’s School Units. In this new role, he can more effectively coordinate the operation of Athens College, Psychico College and “John M. Carras” Kindergarten.  He works closely with the Directors of all the school units and College President, Richard L. Jackson.


Mr. Dimitris Karamanos, who resigned as Head of the Scholarship Program and Public Relations Office, has assumed the role of Advisor to the President of the Board of Directors and the College’s Administrations, as well as other areas of activity of the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation.

Ms. Joann Ryding Beltes took over the newly created post of Executive Director of Development and is spearheading efforts to raise funds in Greece, the United States and elsewhere to support the strategic objectives of the College.  Ms. Ryding works closely with both the President of the Board of Directors and the President of the Board of Trustees in order to achieve the development goals.  She completed her undergraduate studies at Mount Holyoke College and holds a Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Hawaii. She is a senior executive who has extensive experience in building philanthropic relationships and finding resources to support education. For 30 years, Ms. Ryding worked at the American Farm School in Thessaloniki, the last 10 of which as Vice President, responsible for all matters relating to development, communication and relations between Greece and the United States.  Prior to that, she worked for philanthropic foundations in the US as academic director for international exchange and teaching programs.

Ms. Alexandra Aivalioti assumed the newly created post of Marketing & Communications Director for planning and overseeing a unified communications strategy and corporate identity for the School.  Her primary objective is to develop digital media and establish appropriate opportunities to promote the School and its achievements globally. Ms. Aivalioti works closely with the College President and the Board of Directors, as well as with the Administrations of all the School units.  She graduated from Pierce College – The American College of Greece and continued her studies at Deree College (double major, Bachelor of Science in Marketing & Business Administration). At the same time, she worked in the Public Relations and Marketing Departments of the well-known multinational companies Kraft Foods and ELAIS – Unilever Hellas. She then left for the United States where she received a scholarship to study full-time at Northeastern University’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business in Boston, pursuing a Global Corporate Master in Business Administration.  During her studies there, she was selected by the internationally renowned multinational company, Gillete | Proctor & Gamble group, where she worked in the global Communication and Marketing Department.  Ms. Alexandra Aivalioti has undertaken important roles around the globe, particularly in the United States (New York, Boston), the United Kingdom (London) and the United Arab Emirates. She has held senior executive positions in renowned multinational corporations, such as L’Oreal Paris, as well as media and broadcasting companies, such as NBC Universal Media, Paramount Pictures/Viacom, as well as the ANT1 group.
