Educational Objectives

The primary objective of the Library is to complement the educational process by supporting teachers in their work and by introducing students to the use of information sources that include printed, audio-visual and electronic materials. Moreover, the Library aims to promote a love of reading.  It also seeks to familiarize users with new technologies.

Following the School’s educational philosophy, the Library enables students to work independently, to develop their critical thinking skills and to cultivate their interests.

Through lessons in information literacy as well as the assignment of project work, students are taught the process of research, evaluation and utilization of information, and composition of a final “product.” Information literacy provides them with an additional foundation for continued studies in Greece’s institutions of higher learning, as well as those in Europe and America, where familiarity with the use of the library and new technologies is a prerequisite for successful university studies.
