Admissions of students with Learning Differences

Admission Policy for Testing Accommodations (additional time) in Entrance Exams

 

Candidates with Specific Learning Difficulties, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Chronic Diseases are provided with 15 additional minutes during each examination of the Entrance Exams of Athens College.

 

Criteria for the provision of additional time during Entrance Exams

 

For students who attend Greek Schools:

 

  1. Evaluation from a Public Sector (KESY, Medical-Pedagogical Center) that certifies a diagnosis of Specific Learning Difficulty (Dyslexia, Dysgraphia etc.) and suggests, based on the Law 457/2018, N.7, Par.2, the substitution of written examination with oral examinations.
  2. Evaluation from a Public Sector (KESY, Medical-Pedagogical Center) that certifies a diagnosis of a specific Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
  3. Medical Documentation from a Public Hospital that certifies the existence of a chronic disease.

 

For students who attend International Schools or schools abroad:

 

Evaluation from a qualified professional or center that certifies a diagnosis of Specific Learning Difficulty or/and specific Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

 

The evaluation must include the following:

  • Background History (past evaluations/diagnosis and developmental history, including relevant educational and medical history).
  • Results of an intellectual assessment using a complete and comprehensive battery
  • Results of a complete achievement battery
  • Relevant testing for ADHD
  • Description of the functional limitations supported by the test results.

  • Achievement Tests:
  • Wechsler Individual Achievement Test
  • Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Achievement

  • ADHD Tests:
  • Conners Attention Deficit Scales
  • Test of Variables of Attention (TOVA)

 

All documents must be submitted to the School΄s Admissions Office one month before the Entrance Exams. In case the documentation provided does not meet the School’s criteria, parents will be informed to provide additional data.
