Astronomy

Teacher – Advisor: Mr. Rafios

The Astronomy and Space Club aims to bring students closer to a field which is not taught in schools.  Students will have an opportunity to discover the basic principles of astronomy and to study celestial bodies. They will learn how to use a telescope, prepare star charts using coordinates and plot the lines for constellations. Club members will also look at space programs that have been carried out to date or planned for the future, as well as the prospects that these programs present.

Possible activities: UOA (observe using the University owned telescope), visit the Penteli Observatory.

The Club can accept up to 30 students.  In the event that more students express an interest in joining, the criterion will be the student’s grade in Physics from the previous academic year.
