Howland Oratory Competition

12th Grade

In memory of Charles P. Howland, a great philhellene and supporter of the College from its first years of operation, this prize is awarded annually to the graduating student who places first in the composition and presentation of a public speech in Greek.

In the final round of the competition, the winner of the “HOWLAND Prize” is selected by a panel of three judges, none of whom are employed either as Faculty or Staff at the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation (HAEF).

The HOWLAND Prize winner’s name is engraved on an honorary marble plaque on display in Benaki Hall.
