The objectives of the course are:

  • Understanding music.  This objective is achieved by listening to music, singing, and playing instruments that form part of the “Orff” orchestra.
  • Familiarization with musical symbols and concepts through their application in classroom activities.
  • Learning to play a simple musical instrument (e.g. fife).    By playing instruments from the “Orff“ orchestra and the fife, students are introduced to musical improvisation.

Special units are devoted to:

  • Traditional Greek music.
  • Cross-cultural communication through music.
  • The interdisciplinary study of musical elements and concepts as they relate to other subjects in the curriculum.

Additionally, choir groups and an Orchestra Club enable students to develop their special talents.

Music lessons take place in appropriately equipped facilities.
