Athens College Elementary School Students Win 2nd Prize in Children’s Short Film Contest

The Thessaloniki Film Festival organized a Children’s Short Film Contest, titled “We Stay at Home,” from April 1 to to April 25, 2020.  The competition was for children aged six to thirteen years aimed at giving them an opportunity to use their imagination and to express through cinematic narrative everything that the new reality of “Staying at Home” encompasses. Contestants were asked to create a short film, up to three minutes in length, on any topic, without showing their faces, which was to be filmed at home during the quarantine.

Athens College Elementary School students Giorgos Tsakonas, 3στ and his sister, Christina Tsakonas, 1d entered the competition and won 2nd Prize with their film, “The Sea Turtle Hatchlings.”   George and Christina created an animation with handmade plasticine constructions showing how caretta-caretta turtle lay their eggs and the dangers they encounter until they hatch.

Warm congratulations to our students on their fine achievement!
