Dedication to European Languages Day

On Monday, September 30, 2019, the Administration of Psychico College Junior High School, in cooperation with the Parents’ Association, organized a tribute to European Languages Day, which was held in the Theater.  Students, supported by teachers, presented works and acts that highlighted the value of multilingualism as a key element of Europe’s cultural heritage.

The event began with a speech by Ms. Georgia Niforopoulou Tsouroukoglou, philologist and Vice President of the Psychico College Junior High School Parents’ Association, on the objectives and importance of multilingualism in modern times.  Her speech was followed by a video message from Mr. Ioannis Economou, a linguist who works at the Directorate-General of the European Commission and who speaks 32 languages.

Mr. Nicolas Christodoulou, Director of the Center for Examinations and Certifications at the French Institute of Greece, also gave a short address.

European Languages Day, first proclaimed by the Council of Europe in 2001, is celebrated each year on September 26.
