The Library is an integral part of the Elementary School’s educational program.  Its main objectives are to familiarize students with recreational reading, with rules of conduct in the Library, with various Library sections, and with research techniques necessary for projects.  Its ultimate goal is to encourage children to acquire a love of books and to develop critical thinking skills.

In grades 1 through 4, students’ timetables include one period per week in the Library.  In 5th and 6th grades, students have one Library period every fortnight.  In addition to recreational reading and book borrowing of both Greek and foreign language books, students attend Information Literacy lessons in the Library whose goal is to help them develop skills required for searching, locating, evaluating, and synthesizing information from the Library’s print and electronic resources.

Additionally, students attend presentations in the Library on books and selected topics by authors, illustrators and other professionals.
