The objective of understanding the structures, historical development and language of music is achieved by: listening to music, singing, and playing instruments that form part of the “Orff” orchestra.  With the addition of the fife to the “Orff” instruments, students are introduced to music improvisation.  Special units are devoted to:

  • Traditional Greek music.
  • Cross-cultural communication through music.
  • The interdisciplinary study of musical elements and concepts as they relate to other subjects in the curriculum.

Additionally, choir and orchestral groups enable students to develop their special talents. Course activities include “Music Day” during which time students have the opportunity to perform both solo and in groups and “Music Visits” to performances held in collaboration with the Athens Concert Hall and the National Opera.
