Psychico College High School Named One of Three Winners of Social Innovation Relay’s 2020 Global Finals

Psychico College High School’s Young Entrepreneurs Club, with its virtual company “Medinow,” achieved yet another distinction on Tuesday, June 16, 2020. During Social Innovation Relay’s Global Finals, “Medinow” was selected one of the three overall winners of 2020 SIR.  The Competition was held online and saw the participation of 10,000 students from around the globe.

Our School’s Young Entrepreneurs Club is comprised of 43 members and was represented in this competition by Chara Moraitaki (10th grade), Despoina-Victoria Drikogia (10th grade), Athanasios Linatsas (11th grade), and Georgios Moustakas (12th grade). Ours was one of three teams that represented Greece in the Global Finals after having placed 1st in the PanHellenic SIR on Friday, May 15, 2020.  The Club’s teachers-advisors are: Mr. Athanasios Karamitsas, Ms. Eleni Markopoulou, and Mr. Panagiotis Statiris.

Social Innovation Relay (SIR) is a global, online educational program for secondary school students (ages 15-18) whereby students develop real world social problem solving ideas. Psychico College students focused their attention on the problem of health care access in rural or remote areas of Greece.  They developed a cell phone app that provides immediate communication between users in need and doctors.

We wish to thank IASO Group for their invaluable support of our student’s efforts.

It is noteworthy that Psychico College High School’s Young Entrepreneurs Club has achieved great success in recent years.  In 2019, the students’ virtual company “Saveat” won 1st Prize in the PanHellenic Competition of Junior Achievement Greece, as well as distinctions in the Junior Achievement Europe event. Additionally, during the European Competition, the students’ teachers, along with Psychico College High School, were named “Entrepreneurial School 2019.”

Kudos to our students and their teachers!
